The Vision
The Spirit Body Yoga Vision is to see people discover lasting peace and joy in their daily lives through the harmonious wholeness of spirit, body, and soul.
A healthy and strong body is vital not just for our physical existence but also for our mental and spiritual well-being. In every class, you will calm your mind, strengthen your physical body, and create space for your spirit to thrive!
Many people hold strong and sometimes conflicting opinions about yoga. Some see it as nothing more than a form of physical exercise, while others assume it’s a religion in itself. In reality, yoga is an ancient, time-tested science of self-awareness and integration; a collection of introspective principles designed to draw the practitioner closer to the Divine. These principles, rooted in thousands of years of lived experience, appear across many spiritual traditions because they speak to the universal human longing for peace, presence, and wholeness. Yoga simply offers a practical pathway for cultivating that inner connection.
We believe that each journey to God is personal, special, unique, and worth pursuing.
Living the 8 Limbed Path
Our Mission
To Strengthen the Entire Person, Spirit and Body.
Yama & Niyama
There are Eight Limbs (principles) of the “Yoga Tree” and the first two limbs are Yama and Niyama. These first two limbs of Yoga each have five branches:
YAMAS (Universal Morality)
- Ahisma – Non-Violence
- Satya – Truthfulness
- Asteya – Non-Stealing
- Bramacharya – Godly Conduct/Fleshly Restraint
- Aparigraha – Non-Attachment
NIYAMAS (Personal Observances)
- Saucha – Purity/Cleanliness/Wholeness
- Santosha – Contentment
- Tapas – Self-Discipline/Elimination
- Svadhyaya – Study of Scripture
- Aswara Pranidhana – Surrender to God
Learning to walk in these principles will lead to victory in every area of our lives. The Yamas and Niyamas will randomly be interwoven into each Spirit Body Yoga class.
Breath, Concentration, and Meditation
The 4th, 6th, and 7th Limbs (principles) on the “Yoga Tree” are Pranayama, Dharana, and Dhyana.
- PRANAYAMA – Extension of your Breath/Life-force
- DHARANA – Concentration and Focus
- DHYANA – Meditation
Practicing each of these yogic principles in our everyday life will not only quiet your mind and allow you to work more efficiently, but they will strengthen you spiritually as you will be able to hear what God is saying to you.
Pratyahara & Asana
The 3rd and 5th Limbs (principles) on the “Yoga Tree” are Asana and Pratyahara. These two yogic principles focus on strengthening and disciplining the body.
- Asana – Physical Position
- Pratyahara – Control of Senses
When our body is disciplined then our spirit can rise up and reign in our lives.
Samadhi Bliss
The last Limb (principle) on the “Yoga Tree” is Samadhi. This is the result of following and practicing the other 7 limbs.
Samadhi – Blissful Union with God
If you believe that we are spiritual beings then you believe that we have a Creator. What could be more important while we are here on Earth than reaching for a relationship with the One who created us? That relationship is Samadhi. It is true fulfillment as we experience love, peace, joy, purpose, wholeness and more!
